The workshop of Lothar Seifert has expanded in the past few years to include his sons, Berndt and Eric Seifert, both of whom are master bow makers in their own right. Family Seifert has long held the largest selection air-dried, well-aged stocks of pernambuco, snakewood, and ebony, which they use to produce their very well known and respected workshop Double Bass Bows. A bow marked “workshop” indicates that the master bow maker has personally selected the sticks for the particular quality level being made.
The work is then portioned out with one bow maker shaping the sticks, another setting the camber, another hand making and fitting the frog, and finally a fourth bow maker finishing the bow, which includes the hairing. All bows are meticulously inspected and graded along the way by the master, insuring best quality and consistency. Seifert Double Bass Bows are well-known for their similarity of character, tone production, and playability.
